On 25 November, Thomas Gottschalk will host "Wetten, dass..?" for the last time. With the guest list, however, the cult entertainer had to cope with a number of cancellations.

Friedrichshafen – Next Saturday, November 25, ZDF will ring in the end of an era. For the very last time, Thomas Gottschalk (73) will be portrayed as "Wetten, dass..?" presenter standing in front of the camera and greeting the biggest names of the local celebrity world on his legendary couch. As is well known, there is also no shortage of international interview partners in the prestigious show - but the list of US guests for the Gottschalk finale is not particularly extensive.

With Cher, but without Arnold Schwarzenegger: US celebrities don't want to go to "Wetten, dass..?"

With Helene Fischer (39), Shirin David (28), Matthias Schweighöfer (42) and Jan Josef Liefers (59), Thomas Gottschalk's last "Wetten, dass..?" show, numerous top-class representatives of the German music and television landscape were invited. Cult singer Cher (77) and the British pop band Take That will also be doing the honours at Messe Friedrichshafen. However, those hoping for more international greats will come away empty-handed on Saturday evening.

As Thomas Gottschalk reveals in an interview with radio presenter Constantin Zöller (36), only Cher has accepted his invitation – her Hollywood colleagues, however, forego the chance to join the big "Wetten, dass..?" final. "The only old lady who doesn't leave me hanging," jokes Gottschalk and explains: "That's the problem that the Americans at Thanksgiving (editor's note: Thanksgiving is on Thursday, 23/11) just don't want to travel." Arnold Schwarzenegger is also said to have given the show host a basket on the phone.

Surprising duet: Helene Fischer sings with Shirin David on "Wetten, dass..?"

It remains to be seen whether Cher will delight the ZDF audience with a vocal performance – but musically, Helene Fischer and Shirin David in particular should provide a real highlight. Although the two artists serve very different target groups, they will be on stage together and stage Helene's mega-hit as a duet on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of "Atemlos durch die Nacht".

His time on "Wetten, dass..?" is coming to an end, but Thomas Gottschalk is by no means disappearing from television. As early as 2 December, he will host the big Disney anniversary show on RTL, but will be in a ratings race with Florian Silbereisen's "Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights".
