Thanks for the congratulations: The royal couple sent a © few lines of thanks to class 3a.

A special letter was written in the last school year by class 3a of the primary school St. Korbinian. Recipient: King Charles III. Now there was the answer.

Freising – In the spring of that year, Tanja Eggerstorfer's class 3a decided to write an unusual letter. "In class, we just dealt with the topic of letters," reports the teacher. "Our headmistress, Sandra Paretzke, then approached me with the idea that we could write a letter to Charles and Camilla to coincide with the upcoming coronation." That's exactly what the teacher and her students did.

They wrote the letter in German, "because Charles can do a little German," says Eggerstorfer. In the letter, the class introduced themselves, reported on their current lesson topic and congratulated Charles and Camilla on the upcoming coronation. "We wished them a wonderful day at the ceremony."

A few weeks ago, the primary school pupils, who are now in class 4a, received mail from England. "The secretary came to class with an envelope. We were all totally surprised and exhausted when we saw that Charles and Camilla actually answered," recalls Eggerstorfer. Inside the envelope was a "beautiful card" with a printed text in English.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In the pre-written lines, the royal couple expressed their gratitude for the congratulations on the coronation. The piece was signed by hand – by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Of course, the children's joy was huge. Where exactly the card with a picture of Charles and Camilla will be exhibited, the class has not yet finally decided. "But we will certainly find a nice place in one of our school showcases," says Eggerstorfer.
