(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - Grassroots unions belonging to theUSB association said Saturday that they have decided to postponea 24-hour public transport strike called for Monday untilDecember 15 so that, in the meantime, they can challengeTransport Minister Matteo Salvini's injunction limiting theprotest to four hours.
The USB said it was challenging the constitutionality ofSalvini's decision and said the issues raised by the workers hadbeen ignored by employers and the minister.
The injunction is the latest episode in an ongoing row withunions over strikes in the transport sector.
Last week the minister issued an injunction limiting a one-daystrike called by trade union confederations UIL and CGIL inprotest against the government's 2024 budget bill to four hoursin the transport sector after the nation's strike watchdog saidthe stoppage did not meet the requirements for a general strikeand should be rescheduled.
The unions and opposition parties accused the government ofattacking the right to strike and the watchdog of beingcompliant to the executive's demands. (ANSA).
