Singer Lior Narkiss, who in recent weeks has shown great involvement in the situation in Israel and support for the IDF soldiers fighting, published a post in which he declared that he and his wife wish to adopt 4-year-old Abigail Idan who was released from Hamas captivity and whose parents were murdered.

Despite the goodwill that motivated Narcissus and his wife, the singer was widely criticized after the post was published until he decided to delete it.

In the post, Narkis wrote: "Sapir and I wish to adopt dear Abigail into our family, who for days and nights the entire nation of Israel saw her sweet smile before our eyes. We wished for a moment that she and all the other abductees would return home, praying for everyone. I ask the family's representative to contact us."

Narkis responded to the uproar created by the post, saying: "The intention was pure and true. I wrote what the entire nation of Israel feels: There is not a person in Israel who is not willing to do everything for Abigail and for all the other abductees. We will be happy to accompany the family in anything they need.
We pray for the release of all the abductees."

4-year-old Abigail was kidnapped alone to Gaza, and her story also moved US President Joe Biden, who wished for her return from captivity. Her parents, news photographer Roy and her mother Smadar, were murdered in Kibbutz Kfar Azza. Her older brothers Amalia, 6, and Michael, 8, survived after hiding in a closet in the safe room next to their mother's body.

On October 7, Abigail knocked on the door of her neighbors, the Brodetz family. Father Avichai noticed her full of blood, which was later revealed to be her father's blood. He took her into the safe room to be with his wife and three children, and Abigail was eventually kidnapped along with them.

Last weekend, Abigail marked her ninth birthday in Hamas captivity. Narcissus' criticism of the post in which he asked to adopt the girl stemmed in part from the fact that the little girl had family left, brother and sister, uncles, grandparents waiting for her return.

Her grandmother Carmel said on Sunday: "Sorry everyone, but I wanted my granddaughter, we have supportive psychologists, an enveloping family, grandparents, uncles, and cousins who all wrap us in love. Children are adaptable, adapt to everything as soon as there are toys, sweets, clothes, and people in the background who love them, but then they will have to live with all the memories, obviously we will not say straight to the orphan, we have not been prepared what to say, it is more intuition, we will conduct ourselves sensitively, only things she needs to hear, she will hear about the approaching winter, the anemones that are growing."
