An indictment was filed Sunday against a 20-year-old resident of Ahismach who shot two motorcyclists on the grounds that he thought they were terrorists and then fled the scene. Along with the indictment, the police also submitted a request to the court to extend his detention until the end of the proceedings.

According to the indictment, about a month ago, the defendant was involved in a violent incident in Moshav Ahismach, during which he took a loaded pistol with a magazine that was brought to the event by another person. A few days later, the defendant drove a Mercedes in the seat with a loaded pistol. At the same time, two other young men arrived on a motorcycle. The defendant believed that the victims fired at the vehicle, he got out and fired several shots at the victims.

As they fled the scene with their backs to the accused, he continued to chase them. When the victims reached a sandy area near the moshav cemetery, they abandoned the motorcycle and continued fleeing on foot, wounded. The defendant then got out of the vehicle, went to the motorcycle of the two and drove away with it.

A week later, when the defendant was arrested, he confessed to taking the loaded gun he used, carrying it and transporting it from the time it was found by him until the incident. He also confessed to shooting at the victims after believing that they fired at him first, and that during the period he claimed that he "suspected they were terrorists." The defendant also confessed to stealing the motorcycle and driving away with it. The two wounded, who underwent surgery at the hospital, denied that they had fired at the accused.

The motion for remand stated: "It should be noted that despite the fear described by the defendant, who thought they were terrorists, and during the said period chased them with a vehicle, he did not call any of the security forces or the local alert squad, at any stage, not even after the incident ended. The defendant's dangerousness is also learned from the fact that he carries out his actions late at night at a time when there is a severe war in the State of Israel, in the middle of a moshav where many families live."
