Initial agreements between the Ministry of Communications and Elon Musk not to operate StarLink Internet systems in the Gaza Strip. The agreements come after several weeks of talks between the sides and ahead of Musk's arrival in Israel on Monday.
Musk had already sent such a system to Gaza in October, but Minister Qari blocked its operation for fear that it would help terrorist organizations. These are satellite internet services designed to overcome the periodic blockade that Israel carries out in the area. Musk promised at the time that connectivity would be provided to aid organizations in the Gaza Strip, but Israel refused to allow it, claiming that it would be used directly by Hamas.
This morning, when it appeared that the sides had managed to reach understandings on the issue, Minister of Communications Shlomo Krei tweeted congratulations on reaching agreements in principle regarding the operation of Starlink satellite units in Israel, including the Gaza Strip, which, he said, would only be after approval by the Israeli Ministry of Communications.
