Last month, several reports were received about the theft of a number of vehicles from the surrounding communities belonging to families evacuated and saved from the massacre, and even those belonging to families murdered or abducted by Hamas. After receiving a report, an investigation team was established at the Negev Medical Center in order to trace the offenders. Earlier, the commander of the Southern District ordered all necessary measures to be taken against criminals who take advantage of the security situation in order to commit criminal offenses, particularly looting property belonging to residents from the envelope.
According to suspicions, those involved took advantage of the security situation in the south and managed to enter the closed area under the pretext that they had come to evacuate damaged vehicles. In practice, they loaded many cars onto a tow truck and stole them from the scene.
In the early hours of this morning, police forces raided the homes of seven suspects living in central Israel and arrested them. As part of the activity, three tow trucks and two Land Cruisers were seized, which were allegedly used by those involved in committing the offenses.
