To save his mother from his father's beatings, at the age of eight he dialed 113 on his mobile phone and then called the attention of the police with an orange 'Help' letter, made on a white sheet of paper. The umpteenth episode of violence against women happened in Reggio Calabria and, unfortunately, it is not the only one that has taken place in the last few hours in front of the eyes of small children.
In this case, the man, later arrested by the police, beat his wife in front of their three daughters because he wanted to prevent her from going to work. Before arriving at the apartment, officers noticed the three girls - one of whom was holding up a sheet of paper with the word 'Help' written on it - shouting: "Come, come, we are here." Upon entering the house, the 47-year-old, who has already served a ban on approaching his wife, was in an obvious state of alteration. The woman denounced the violence suffered so far by her husband who beat her, pulled her hair and punched her in the head, not allowing her to visit her family of origin.
A second similar arrest was made for a 38-year-old man who assaulted his 27-year-old partner in front of their children, aged 2 and 6. The woman told police officers that after opening the front door for him, she was pushed, grabbed by the neck and dragged into the children's room where she continued to beat her. At that point, her six-year-old son came to her rescue and so she managed to wriggle free and go out on the landing to ask for help.
And always a child managed to save his mother from his father's beatings by contacting 112 in Bologna. The incident took place on Saturday, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, in the Bolognina area. While in Milan, a 32-year-old Moroccan beat and injured his wife with a knife, in front of their four-year-old child. The man was arrested by the carabinieri in Rozzano on suspicion of attempted murder.
In the Sorrento Peninsula, on the other hand, a 35-year-old man continued to threaten his partner with death even in front of the carabinieri. The man had already been reported in the past for mistreatment that usually took place in front of his 9-year-old daughter.
Meanwhile, the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has asked for 9 years and 4 months in prison for former real estate agent Omar Confalonieri - already sentenced in the second instance to 4 years and 4 months for drugging a couple of customers with benzodiazepines and raping the woman - accused of five other cases of alleged violence with the same modus operandi. The four alleged victims, who have joined the civil action in the trial, have asked for compensation of up to 120 thousand euros.
