(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 29 - Pope Francis on Wednesday renewed hisappeal for peace in the Middle East and said he hoped the trucein Gaza would continue.
"Please, let us continue to pray for the very serious situationin Israel and Palestine. Peace please, peace," insisted the popeat the end of his general audience, having earlier said he was"still not well" with 'flu and asking Monsignor FilippoCiampanelli of the Secretariate of State to read the catechesisand greet the faithful on his behalf.
"I hope that the truce in Gaza continues, so that all thehostages might be released and access to the necessaryhumanitarian aid might still be allowed," he continued.
"I have spoken to the parish there, there is no water, there isno bread, people are suffering. It is the simple people, notthose who are waging war, who are suffering. We call for peace,"appealed the pope. (ANSA).
