Nearly a fortnight after the murder of Thomas, who was stabbed to death during a punitive expedition at a winter ball in Crépol, a small town in the Drôme region, the news item has become an eminently political national event. Since then, several of the alleged attackers, some of whom are from the Monnaie district of Romans-sur-Isère, have been remanded in custody. At the same time, in the surrounding countryside, the anger of the inhabitants has not subsided. Marie-Hélène Thoraval, the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, answered questions from Le Figaro about this tragedy that has become a national affair.
LE FIGARO.- Who are the young people suspected of having killed Thomas? Were they already known to the police?
Marie-Hélène THORAVAL.- The investigation is ongoing, but we know that they belong to a group of identified youths from the La Monnaie district that we have known for a long time. They are on the police radar for previous offenses. They don't go to school
