Gaza/Tel Aviv - The ceasefire in the Gaza war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas has been extended. This was announced by the Israeli military in the morning, just before the deadline. This could free more hostages taken to the Gaza Strip and allow even more humanitarian aid to enter the area.
The Islamist Hamas confirmed the extension of the ceasefire. The terrorist organization said it had agreed on a seventh day. U.S. President Joe Biden thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi "for their continued partnership in this process and their continued commitment to bringing all hostages home and providing more assistance to the innocent people of Gaza," the statement said.
