Frankfurt – Cough, runny nose and sore throat? Then you, like so many at the moment, are affected by a cold. Because with autumn and the colder season, colds are also making their way back and causing trouble. And it often takes weeks to feel fully fit and recovered.
Even the right diet can help. As the WDR program Servicezeit explains, the right foods cannot cure exhaustion after an infection, but they can help you feel fitter again.
Healthy food: 30 different vegetables a week
You can grab vegetables, herbs and seeds. You should eat a total of 30 different types of vegetables per week. After an infectious disease, the body needs material to develop an immune response. A variety of vitamins and substances are necessary for this. White flour, sugar, sausage and ready meals should be avoided.

Vitamins B, C and D in particular are important for the body. But the minerals magnesium, zinc and selenium should also be consumed abundantly. However, vitamins found in food are better than combination preparations in tablet form. This is also how nutritionist Matthias Riedl explains it in WDR: "Only with vitamin D is there a recommendation to take it, but only in case of deficiency." Among other things, attention should be paid to overdoses with dietary supplements. In addition, indigestible fiber is particularly important. They harden people against infectious diseases.

Red lentils, for example, contain B vitamins as well as zinc, selenium and magnesium, making them a real all-rounder. Bell peppers, on the other hand, contain a lot of vitamin C, mushrooms provide some vitamin D, and fennel contains magnesium and fiber. In addition, hot spices have positive effects. As Riedl explains, chili and pepper have a positive effect on the psyche: "Chili has a tendency to put us in a better mood." In addition, ginger and horseradish have a biological, antibiotic effect against viruses, bacteria and fungi.
