His first meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, "was not great," al-Qidwa said. That was about ten days ago, shortly before the truce in the Gaza Strip came into effect. But things have changed, he says. "There have been other meetings with Haniyeh and his lieutenants, which I would describe as constructive. We discussed the future of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. We are not exactly on the same page, but there is progress. I think we are moving towards a consensus that will allow us to build something, which could look like a national leadership," the Palestinian politician said.
