After Thursday's heavy thaw over a large southern half with rain up to 2000 m in the Alps, the air cools at higher altitudes with a rain-snow line that drops significantly. In the north, cold and dry weather prevails as the disturbance continues to drench the southern half of the country. Precipitation totals are becoming remarkable in the Alps with significant flooding and runoff, according to La Chaîne Météo*.

From Brittany and the Pays de la Loire to Normandy, clouds are numerous in the morning but as the hours go by, sunny spells develop between Brittany and Normandy. They are later in the Pays de la Loire. Rare showers concern the north coast of Brittany and the Cotentin.
From Centre-Val de Loire and Île-de-France to Hauts-de-France, clouds dominate in the morning and leave little room for clearing. The sun appears in the afternoon from Nord-Pas-de-Calais to the west of the Paris Basin while clouds continue to dominate elsewhere.
From the Grand Est to Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, grey and cold weather prevails with a few early morning snowflakes near the northern borders and precipitation that persists for a good part of the day in the Jura with a rain-snow line that drops to 800 m above sea level.
In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the weather remains unsettled with cloudy skies accompanied by frequent precipitation. The latter remain sustained on the Alpine relief with a rain-snow limit that drops to around 1000 to 1200 m on the north of the Alps and 1400 m on the south of the Alps.
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the sky remained very cloudy to overcast with rain or showers. Drier weather is in Poitou.
In Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, clouds dominate and are accompanied by rain or showers at times.
In Corsica, the weather remains dry with clouds and sunny spells. The mildness remains remarkable for the season. The wind blows from the south to south-west quite strongly.
