A statement issued by the organization said: "We unequivocally condemn Hamas's brutal attacks on Israel on October 7." About a week ago, the organization issued another statement that evaded clear condemnation of Hamas

The pressure worked: For the first time since the massacre carried out by Hamas terrorists in the communities near the Gaza Strip, the UN Women's Organization condemns the attack.

"We unequivocally condemn Hamas's brutal attacks on Israel on October 7. We are concerned by the numerous reports of gender-based atrocities and sexual violence during the attacks. That is why we have called for an investigation into all reports of gender-based violence and for all those involved to be prosecuted, with an emphasis on victims' rights," the group said in a statement.

Former Meretz MK Zehava Galon responded to the UN Women's statement, writing: "Thank you truly to the UN Women's Organization, which, after almost two months of extensive documentation of the systematic rape committed by Hamas on October 7, has finally remembered to issue a condemnation. Well done for deciding that the blood of Israeli women is also worth a few words. Your betrayal of women's rights – not just Israelis, women in general – will no longer be able to protest."

A week ago, the organization issued an evasive statement without clear condemnation, saying: "We are troubled by reports of gender-based violence that occurred on October 7. We call for a thorough investigation, prioritizing the rights and security concerned."

A study by the Research Division of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, whose conclusions were published about a week ago, shows that the organization has published 26 statements and posts on the Palestinian issue, compared to three meager joint posts relating to both fatalities in Israel and the situation in Gaza. It is important to note that these joint posts only use the hashtag #Gaza.
