The finale of the last season of "The Mountain Doctor" left a few questions unanswered. Whether Dr. Martin Gruber will ultimately turn his back on his home town of Ellmau will be shown in the new episodes.
Ellmau – At the end of the last season, there was hardly a dry eye in "The Mountain Doctor". Actually, the title hero Dr. Martin Gruber, played by Hans Sigl (54), should have left his home in the Alps behind to move to New York to live with his young son. But just before Martin was about to board the plane to the United States, his beloved mother Lisbeth was unexpectedly hospitalized. For the likeable series hero, it was therefore clear that he would have to put his travel plans on hold for the time being.

In the preview text for the new season of "The Mountain Doctor", the start date of which is now finally known, the responsible broadcaster ZDF already hints that Martin Gruber has not yet completely resigned himself to staying in Ellmau. But before he initiates his move to the Big Apple, the Alpine doctor still has a few things to clarify at home. So it seems as if the tearful farewell to Ellmau is not yet imminent.
After all, there was also an argument with his brother Hans, played by Heiko Ruprecht (51), last season. Ruprecht revealed about the upcoming episodes: "What can be said is that the past is catching up with the Gruber brothers once again, a new dimension is coming into the Gruber history."

It seems like the new season of "The Mountain Doctor" is peppered with some ups and downs. Because a romance is also hinted at in the ZDF statement on the upcoming episodes. About Martin Gruber's future, the broadcaster writes: "And since his originally planned stay in New York has been postponed until further notice, he agrees to an invitation to Karin Bachmeier."

What fate has in store for Dr. Gruber can be seen on ZDF from January 4, 2024. "The Mountain Doctor" will then be broadcast every Thursday at 20:15 p.m. For the new episodes, meanwhile, a familiar face returns to "The Mountain Doctor" in January. Sources used: ZDF; bunte.de
