The interrogation by the Shin Bet and the police revealed that Mahmoud Rafiq Abd al-Rahim Masarwa joined terrorist operatives in Judea and Samaria and assisted them while exploiting his Israeli citizenship • Among other things, he was documented practicing firing weapons and preparing IEDs

An indictment was filed against Mahmoud Rafiq Abd al-Rahim Masarwa, a 19-year-old resident of Taybeh, on suspicion of serious security offenses, including assisting the enemy in war, membership in a terrorist organization, and firing firearms.

In recent weeks, ISA investigators and the Central District Chairman have conducted an accelerated investigation, focusing on serious security offenses exposed during another investigation, involving a looting attack and arson attack on a store in Taybeh with nationalist motives near the outbreak of the Iron Swords War.

As part of the investigation, investigators from the Central Unit and the Shin Bet uncovered videos, photos and correspondence on the defendant's cell phone, in which he is seen holding various types of weapons, preparing pipe bombs together with terrorist operatives from Judea and Samaria and firing various types of weapons.

During the investigation, a grave picture emerged of an Israeli citizen whose family received citizenship as part of a family reunification process, who took part in hostile terrorist activity together with operatives of the Qutb Nur al-Shams terrorist organization operating inside the city of Tulkarm, taking advantage of his status as an Israeli citizen with freedom of movement to promote terrorist activity.

As the investigation developed, it emerged that the suspect was involved, inter alia, in throwing IEDs at IDF forces, collected and provided information about the movements of IDF forces in the West Bank, carried out shooting training together with the organization's operatives, was asked to obtain military equipment for security activity, and transferred weapons to the organization's operatives, all while assisting wanted terrorist operatives and warning them of the entry of IDF forces into the area. He toured with them in places from which shooting attacks were carried out, and was even aware of the intentions to carry out additional shooting attacks against IDF soldiers.

Today (Sunday), a serious indictment was filed against the suspect in the Lod District Court, by Attorney Tomer Steinberg of the Central District Prosecutor's Office, for a series of serious security offenses, including assisting the enemy in war, membership in a terrorist organization, training or training for terrorist purposes, operating a weapon for terrorist purposes, a terrorist act of sabotage with aggravated intent and firing from a firearm.
