Representatives of the families of the abductees made a statement to the media at the headquarters of the abductees and missing persons on Monday against the background of the return of fighting and the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the abducted family members. Participating in the press conference are Daniel Lifshitz, grandson of Yocheved Lifshitz who returned from captivity and Oded who is still being held in Gaza, Haim Yitzhak Or, brother of Avinatan Or who was kidnapped from the party in Re'im, and Yael Adar, mother of Tamir Adar, who is still kidnapped.
"I come here today after hearing the testimonies of the returnees who were in the Gaza tunnels by Hamas," said Haim Yitzhak Or, the brother of Avinatan Or, who was kidnapped at a party in Re'im. "We're terrified of what we're hearing. The War Cabinet promised to meet with us regularly two and a half weeks ago, and that has not yet happened. We sat quietly and didn't disturb, we didn't bother until we couldn't anymore."
"Since Friday, we have been asking the War Cabinet to meet with us and tell us what is going to happen - are we going back to fighting? Have the negotiations ended? We don't interfere in the conduct of the war, but we want answers."
Yael Adar - mother of Tamir Adar (38), who was abducted from his home in Nir Oz, father of two small children: kidnapped from Nir Oz with his grandmother Yaffa Adar. "The grandmother says she won't be quiet until everyone comes back because she knows what's going on. The children ask every day when Dad is coming back, I ask when the cabinet will meet with us. We love the country, we educated our children to love the country and they were abandoned on the seventh of October. We depend on others and all the cabinet has to do is look us in the eye and say what they are going to do. All we ask for is answers. Let them ensure that the return of abductees is of the highest priority."
"Abductees tell of horrors," Adar continues. "One of the kids told me, 'I ate one pita a day.' Health neglect. Every day we receive news that some of them died due to torture of the soul. I know one of the abductees who returned after treating the wounded in captivity and is no longer there. All they ask is for the cabinet to meet with us today. This disregard is humiliation. About what? That our children, grandchildren, brothers are promiscuous. If the cabinet does not meet with us by eight o'clock today, we will have to ask itself, but the measures are being intensified because we are committed to our loved ones. We'll sit at the entrance to the Kirya."
