Although the IDF has not published motivation rates among youth in recent years, experience shows that precisely in times of war – everyone wants to take part • Recruits from the envelope and bereaved families will receive unique and sensitive treatment

In the shadow of the war, which has been going on for about two months, all the fighters who were supposed to be released from the IDF in recent weeks were "released" and immediately received Order 8 for reserve duty. They remained in their organic units - and continue fighting.

At the same time, yesterday the recruitment of fighters to combat units of the November-December cycle was launched, where the motivation for recruitment is very high.

The previous combat recruitment cycle, the August cycle, was marked by legal reform. Conversations with the recruits at the time indicated that events in the country did not affect them, although some parents expressed concern about the situation in the country.

In recent years, the IDF has not published data on the motivation of youth to enlist in combat, but past experience shows that the motivation to combat increases significantly during wars – and especially during wars such as the current one, for which there is a consensus.

The IDF clarified that in light of the complex period, recruits who come from the envelope and bereaved families will receive unique and sensitive treatment. At Meitav, a dedicated call center has been established, the purpose of which is to maintain personal contact with NCOs who are required to do so.

Tailored training

Meanwhile, with the outbreak of the war, the IDF began the process of adjusting basic and junior command training, so that some of the training would be shortened or adapted to the needs of the war. The training staff included commanders who took part in the fighting in recent weeks, and lessons learned from the current fighting were also incorporated into the training. In some of the trainings, an "operational chapter" is even incorporated towards the end of the training.

As reported a few days ago in Israel Hayom, the IDF recently approached NCOs who had postponed their enlistment – inter alia in favor of pre-military preparatory courses, a year of service or yeshiva studies – with a request that they advance their enlistment, in light of the understanding that the IDF will be required to maintain a particularly large order of battle on the various borders for the foreseeable future. In addition, work is underway in the army to extend compulsory service, so that it can fulfill its various tasks.

According to military figures, more than 60 per cent of recruits in this recruitment cycle are men. 12% of all women enlisting in combat positions are NCOs who have asked to join the combat system since the beginning of the war. The youngest recruit is 17 years and 11 months old, and the oldest is 28 years and 18 months. The average age of recruits is 129 and 90 months. In the current recruitment cycle, 39 new immigrants will enlist, of whom 356 are men and <> women, as well as <> lone soldiers.

The five most common names among the recruits in this class are Itai, Daniel, Uri, Ido and Amit, and the most common women's names are Noa, Agam, Maya, Shira and Roni.

Pleasant recruitment. Return home safely.
