Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that the Israeli prime minister will be investigated as a war criminal. "Netanyahu, who is not only a war criminal but also the butcher of Gaza, will be investigated with certainty just as Slobodan Milosevic is," Erdogan said at the summit of the Islamic Cooperation Conference. "Netanyahu, the butcher of Gaza, discovered for himself that the story is not Gaza or Ramallah, but [Israel's] expansionist intentions. Therefore, defending Gaza and Palestine means defending Mecca, Medina, Istanbul and Jerusalem, Damascus, Beirut, Baghdad and other Islamic cities."
Turkey condemned Hamas' massacre of Israeli civilians, but in October Erdogan called the terrorist organization "freedom fighters." He also criticized the unconditional support of some Western countries for Jerusalem, drawing strong reactions from Italy and Israel.
