In recent hours, fierce fighting has continued in the Gaza Strip. During the fighting of the 401st Brigade's combat team in the northern Gaza Strip, fighters of the 601st Battalion entered a building where they encountered Hamas terrorists who opened fire at them.
During the battle that took place inside the building, Sergeant Sergeant (res.), Ben Zussman z"l and Sergeant Benjamin Yehoshua Needham z"l were killed and two other fighters were wounded. The fighters strove for contact, fired at the terrorists and eliminated them.
Sussman, a 22-year-old combat engineer from Jerusalem, is the fifth casualty of Himmelfarb High School in the capital in an iron sword war. His friend eulogized him: "He was a man of sweat and hard work, always invested no matter what task it was."
Orly, the sister of Sergeant Benjamin Joshua Needham (Benji), a soldier in the Corps of Combat Engineers who fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, spoke about him. Sergeant Needham was born in England to a Zionist family and immigrated to Israel at the age of eight together with his parents and siblings. "He was so proud, and had just finished basic training. He is happy to defend the country."
