The military court in Beit Lid held a hearing Tuesday evening to extend the detention of Staff Sergeant (res.) Aviad Freija, who is suspected of the reckless killing of Yuval Castleman.

Military Prosecutor Lt. Col. Kobi Marcus said during the hearing: "We need to carry out more investigative actions, especially the actions that we raised at the hearing justify the continued detention of the suspect, and as you can see, the expected main actions will end on Thursday morning. Therefore, we believe that the additional point of examination is appropriate."
Initially, the IDF announced that Frija would not be questioned by the military police, and then backtracked.
Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai visited Yuval's family: "A painful event, an unfortunate event, just a civilian who came to provide assistance in a terrorist attack and found his death under unfortunate circumstances. The incident is currently under investigation and there are preliminary lessons.

"There needs to be sensitivity before you find a gun from the holster, before you shoot, to use your judgment, to see that there really is something that threatens, and there is a real danger, if the danger stops, that's a stage where you have to stop until the security forces arrive."
The late Castleman neutralized the terrorist at the scene of the attack at the entrance to Jerusalem last week, and was later shot and mortally wounded. He was pronounced dead at night, becoming the fourth victim in the attack.
