The Movement for Integrity called on Tuesday to urgently intervene in Ben-Gvir's arms distribution and to regulate the alert squads that have been established. The movement turned urgently to the attorney general following the reckless conduct of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

In its letter, the movement noted that "the blatant flaws in the Ministry's conduct in distributing weapons licenses, which even led to the resignation of the Firearms Licensing Commissioner, require immediate intervention. This is because making the criteria more flexible, ignoring legal opinions, and allowing employees in positions of trust to distribute licenses pose a real risk to human life, were carried out in clear violation of the rules of good governance and require the immediate intervention of the consultant in the matter."

At the same time, the Movement for Integrity noted that "it is necessary to regulate the issue of the establishment of municipal alert classes. These frameworks, which were established without an orderly government decision and without the police's own understanding of their role, constituted the basis for distributing long and automatic weapons to entities for which insufficient supervision was not carried out and no organized staff work was carried out regarding them. Basic questions such as the status of the "alert squads" and their members, the admission of volunteers to the classes and the nature of their activities alongside the police, as well as the duties and rights of their members, were not settled at all.
"These two issues paint a worrying picture of Minister Ben-Gvir's violation of all rules of good governance, which endangers human lives with hasty decisions without any intervention by the Attorney General. Therefore, the Movement for Integrity demanded that the Attorney General act promptly on the matter, and clarified that it reserves its right to appeal to the appropriate courts if it does not do so."
