He was eulogized by his widow Eden, his father Moshe, his sister Amit, his brother Roi, Dimona Mayor Benny Biton, Eilat Mayor Eli Lankri, commanders, rabbis and friends, who noted his many virtues, virtues and exalted personality.

In his eulogy, Lankri said: "We have come today to pay our last respects and salute the hero of Israel, Sergeant Matan Damari, who fought fiercely and fell in the battle to defend the homeland, for the sake of our existence in our land. Matan, one of our best sons, humble and pure, salt of the earth, a devoted man, who loves man and is loved by all people. Like his fellow heroes of glory, Matan reported for reserve duty on the very first day of the war, without questions and without question. He put the good of others above his own, and went out to fight with tremendous heroism for our right to live in security in our only Jewish state. Matan was and remains a symbol and example of heroism and devotion, which in his life and death represented the good and beautiful in man and our people. May Matan's memory be etched and cherished forever in the heart of the nation. May his memory be blessed."

The family resides shiva at 28 Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu Street in Dimona.
