Highlights: At least 8 liters of beer were unexpectedly sent to an elderly couple at a bar. The couple, who didn't understand what had befallen them, went viral after their son and grandson posted on Facebook about their outing at the bar. At first, the couple was confused and overwhelmed by the huge flow of drinks and feared that they would have to pay – a cost equal to their entire pension. One user sent the couple shots of liquor, and in response, the grandson filmed his grandmother holding one. Another participant was not satisfied only with drinks, but also ordered pies for the couple at his own expense.

A visit by a friendly retiree couple to a Wetherspoons pub in the UK scorched the chain and led to a wave of drinks being ordered for them from strangers. The couple, who didn't understand what had befallen them, went viral after their son and grandson posted on Facebook about their outing at the bar.

How did it turn out? The son posted a picture of his parents to his Facebook page, noting the specific table where they sat to hang out. The couple's grandson, Mark, then posted a photo of the two on a Facebook group called Wetherspoons: The Game, where people send each other drinks via an app. Alongside the picture, the grandson wrote: "Guys, I just have to get my grandparents to go to bed. It's not anything out of the ordinary, but I want them to sleep." Grandson Mark's original post garnered 2000,<> likes and countless shares on Facebook and the X Network. It went so viral that the story was also published in several foreign media outlets.

Reason 52 why I can't delete Facebook: a group called 'Wetherspoons The Game!' in which you put up a couple of photos of yourselves & explain the occasion, alongside the spoons you're in. If you've got a good post, people will send you a drink. Nana doesn't know what's hit her 🤣 pic.twitter.com/J0tUaCCCPu

Shortly after this publication, a photo surfaced of the couple from the pub where they were hanging out, surrounded by imaginary amounts of beer, spirits and wine, sent to them by various members of the app. At first, the couple was confused and overwhelmed by the huge flow of drinks and feared that they would have to pay for it – a cost equal to their entire pension. However, their grandson reassured and updated online: "I explained to them about the game... Actually, I brought my grandmother and grandfather the night's drink a little earlier." The grandson later posted a picture of his grandparents holding the drinks. The grandfather held a glass of half a liter of beer and the grandmother a glass of red wine. Around the two, at least 8 liters of beer and five glasses of red wine were photographed on the table.

One user sent the couple shots of liquor, and in response, the grandson filmed his grandmother holding one. "Now the guys won't need help falling asleep at night," Mark wrote, after the two left the pub and returned home.
Another participant was not satisfied only with drinks, but also ordered pies for the couple at his own expense.

Many web surfers reacted to the incident. One wrote: "This is the funniest thing I've ever seen." Another wrote, "This incident restores my faith in people," while a third wrote: "This game is the reason I'm not deleting my Facebook account."
