A moving tribute by kindergarten children in Jerusalem ahead of Hanukkah: Ahead of Hanukkah and in the shadow of the war, kindergarten children in Jerusalem made a moving gesture and prepared dozens of menorahs in a variety of designs for IDF soldiers at the forefront of the fighting. The project was initiated by the Jerusalem Municipality together with the kindergartens and transferred the menorahs directly to the fighters in the Gaza Strip. The kindergarten children attached heartfelt greetings to the menorahs that they wrote to them, and some of them also sent the soldiers moving greeting videos and wished them a happy Hanukkah.

There was also one special request from the soldiers, to hand over one of the menorahs to the Bibas family, who have not yet been released from captivity in Gaza, and we all pray for their safe return. The soldiers, who received packages of doughnuts alongside the menorahs, thanked the children for their blessings and investment in making the menorahs, and especially for their attention and love. The kindergartens' commitment to take part in the project was exceptional in scope.

"When we heard about the Jerusalem Municipality's special project to make menorahs for soldiers, we shared it with the children – and they were happy and excited to make the menorahs," says one of the kindergarten teachers in the capital. "We asked a carpenter whose two daughters studied in the kindergarten to make a wooden base in the shape of a Star of David for the menorah. The children pasted blue and white mosaic stones, we added candle houses and wrote on the menorah 'Am Yisrael Chai.'"

It is a great privilege to make the IDF soldiers happy on Hanukkah and to spread a great light. Our heroic warriors are at the forefront of the fighting, and this is another opportunity to thank them and them for their steadfastness. I would like to wish a happy Hanukkah to all the people of Israel, a holiday of light and victory. With mutual responsibility and in the spirit of Jerusalem, we will win."
