Saudi Arabia has asked the United States to show restraint in response to Houthi terrorist group attacks on ships in the Red Sea, two sources told Reuters.
Yemen: Drone strikes against Houthi military sites in Sana'a
The sources familiar with the mood in Riyadh said Saudi Arabia's goal was to halt an escalation in Yemen. They added that Riyadh expressed satisfaction with the way the United States has handled the situation so far.
According to one of the sources, the Saudis exerted pressure on the Americans on this issue and on the "need to bring about a ceasefire" in the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Over the past year, Saudi Arabia has sought an arrangement in Yemen after years of war with the Houthis, a pro-Iranian militia that has taken control of large swaths of the country.

On Wednesday, Israel intercepted a target in the Red Sea launched from Yemen. Subsequently, the Houthis claimed to have launched "a barrage of ballistic missiles at military targets in the Eilat area." The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that there were no casualties or damage in the incident, and the target was intercepted far away in the Red Sea.
In recent days, there have been explosions in Sana'a, a Houthi stronghold, on two occasions. In both cases, the Houthis denied hitting any targets, but local media reported attacks on weapons and drone depots.
