Hundreds of people arrived at the military cemetery in Kfar Saba to accompany Sergeant Major Adi Shani of Zur Yitzhak, who fell in battle in the Gaza Strip and is being laid to rest at this time. He was survived by his wife and three daughters. Adi's wife, Lior, said of him: "Adi was a beloved man, a loving man. He was a ray of sunshine that illuminated everyone around him. He was a perfect husband and a perfect father. Everyone who saw him fell in love with him at first sight. He was a man of life and loved life."
His sister Tammy eulogized him: "Anything we say about Adi will not describe the person he was. There is no one who did not love him. Not even one. An amazing father, a husband every woman would wish for. His sensitivity amazed me time and time again. They say God takes the best, a cliché that has proven itself more than ever. I thought my heart had been broken before, now I really understand what a broken heart is." She added: "He was a diehard Maccabi Tel Aviv football fan. Loved sports in general, watching, doing. Everything."
