A sick note from home? So far, there has only been a special regulation for this during the Corona crisis. Now it is possible to take sick leave by phone again. Doctors think it's good.
Magdeburg/Berlin - The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Saxony-Anhalt has welcomed the fact that telephone sick leave will be possible again in the future. "This is good and important news for patients and practices," said CEO Jörg Böhme. "There is a shortage of doctors, doctor's time is becoming an increasingly important resource. Sick leave by telephone is a win-win situation for both sides: patients do not have to leave their own four walls and thus reduce the risk of infection in the practice waiting room. The practice team is relieved and there is more time for the other patients."
From now on, patients can get a sick note from their doctor's office by telephone under certain conditions. The regulation applies with immediate effect, as the Joint Federal Committee of Doctors, Health Insurance Companies and Clinics based in Berlin announced on Thursday.
According to the information, the regulation applies to patients who are known in the respective doctor's practice and do not have severe symptoms. It is also a prerequisite that no video consultation is possible. The doctors can then issue a certificate of incapacity for work for a maximum of five days. Dpa
