After it was announced that Col. Assaf Hamami had fallen in battle on October 7 and his body had been kidnapped to Gaza, Givati fighters paid tribute to his memory when they went to attack Khan Yunis.
Colonel Hamami was laid to rest on the day the Givati Brigade went into action in the southern Gaza Strip. In the order to embark on the operation, Colonel Liron Battito, who fought alongside Hamami, dedicated the order of attack in connection with his memory. "Like Hamami, that's how I lived: we will fight like Hamami fights with courage and with command from the front and with determination," he told his soldiers.

The announcement of Hamami's death was received a few days ago. The IDF debated very much whether to publish that he was a kidnapped fatality for fear that the price of his body would be higher. Hamami was the third needle to fall in battle fighting on Black Sabbath. The corporal pronounced him dead after examining all the findings and based on reliable information. According to Jewish law, the artifacts that were found allow him to be buried and therefore a funeral will be held.
