A man, presumably drunk, burst into the central kitchen of the Centre school in Orsay (Essonne) on Friday morning, armed with a knife.

It's a scene that the staff members of the Centre's canteen in Orsay (Essonne) will not soon forget. This Friday morning, shortly after 9 a.m., and while the children were in class, a man burst into the central kitchen of this establishment located on Saint-Laurent Avenue. Armed with what looked like a hacksaw and presumably drunk, the man demanded a glass of water before asking questions about how the restaurant operated.

"There was an altercation between the individual and at least one member of the canteen staff who asked him to leave," a police source said. The man then left the facility. Immediately, the police were notified of the intrusion and patrols were conducted around the school in an attempt to get their hands on the intruder, without success.

Increased police presence in the coming days

"The municipal police have been asked to carry out an on-site check, in advance and at lunchtime," the town hall said in an email sent this Friday afternoon to all parents of students at the school. The police have not identified a risk in favor of an emergency protocol," she said.

However, the municipality has announced an increased presence of municipal police in the coming days around the establishment. A complaint has also been filed and an investigation has been opened by the Massy-Palaiseau police station to try to identify and arrest the individual in question.
