There is good stress and bad stress: competition animals and top athletes know this by heart. Only the former paves the way for success. It is therefore regrettable that France offers the face of the second, seven months before the Paris 2024 Olympics. The state of mind is not Olympic, but French. The race to denigrate is in full swing among those - and there are many of them - who did not want these Games from the beginning: too expensive to organise, too risky for safety, too inconvenient to circulate, too polluting to breathe well. Then, the closer the competition gets, the more tempers flare, the more controversies rise and the various players in the construction site pass the buck to each other to say that the country will not be ready on D-Day, July 26. The losing machine is on.
