Nassim M., the presumed perpetrator of the matricide that occurred on the night of Monday to Tuesday in Drancy, has been indicted for "murder by ascendant" and placed in pre-trial detention, the Bobigny prosecutor's office said on Friday. A judicial investigation has been opened.
The 28-year-old man is accused of killing his mother Roza, 55. During his prolonged police custody, "he did not explain himself" about this ultra-violent act, said a source close to the investigation. He oscillated between "silence" and "incoherent speech". His judgement did not seem to have been abolished at the time of the tragedy, but a psychiatric assessment is essential to understand why the young man committed this matricide by "stabbing his mother many times all over his body".
The forensic pathologist found multiple wounds, two of which affected vital areas. "One hit the carotid artery and another a lung," said Éric Mathais, public prosecutor. The victim also had injuries to his face, back and upper limbs, suggesting that he had placed both arms in front of him to parry the stab wounds of his assailant.
During the attack, Roza's youngest son was also present in the house. It is not known if he witnessed the scene. He had taken refuge upstairs in the family pavilion to escape the killing. He was not injured, but remains deeply shocked. He was the one who raised the alarm with neighbours and emergency services.
The alleged killer is one of four siblings, three boys and one girl, aged between 30 and 14. At the time of the incident, he was living under the same roof as his mother and younger brother.
Roza had been divorced since 2020. She was the initiator of the separation. Married in 1989, the couple had been torn apart ever since. As a result of the violence, she filed a complaint against her husband and he was convicted. The divorce had been granted at the sole fault of the husband. The harsh atmosphere at home had a strong impact on the children, some of whom had a strained relationship with their mothers.
