PA Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh told the American news network Bloomberg that Israel's ambition to eradicate Hamas is "unrealistic" • "This is not the same organization as before October 7."

The Palestinian Authority is working, in coordination with the United States, to build a plan for the control and management of the Gaza Strip the day after the war, the American news network Bloomberg revealed in a conversation with PA Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh on Friday.

According to a Bloomberg report, Shtayyeh believes that Israel's aspirations to eradicate Hamas' presence in the Gaza Strip are "unrealistic" and that Hamas will need to be a junior partner in the administration system that will be rehabilitated in Gaza after the war. Shtayyeh believes that Hamas can be persuaded to recognize Israel de facto and cooperate with Gaza's reconstruction.

"Hamas after the seventh of October is a different organization than the one before it. If they are willing to reach an agreement and accept the PLO's political platform, there will be room for talks. The Palestinians must not be divided," the prime minister told US media.

"We will not enter Gaza as part of an Israeli military plan. His people are there. We need to build a mechanism together, something that we are working on together with the international community. There will be a huge need for relief and rebuilding efforts to heal the wounds," Shtayyeh stressed.

This past week Shtayyeh met with senior American officials who had come to Ramallah to discuss a plan to rehabilitate and manage the Gaza Strip. Over the weekend, the Palestinian prime minister is expected to travel to Qatar in an attempt to enlist support for the PA's plan. Moreover, Shtayyeh hopes to persuade Doha to change its financial support for the Hamas government to support the PA government and the bodies it will establish after the war in Gaza.

In Israel, there is significant political opposition to the return of the Palestinian Authority to control of the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Netanyahu made it clear this week in a tweet on the social network X that he would not allow, as long as he is prime minister, control of the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip
