Almost a decade ago, the Golani Brigade fought in the Hamas terrorist stronghold of Sajaiya during Operation Protective Edge, and lost fighters and commanders during the battles in the neighborhood. The brigade commanders and the brigade combat team returned to fight in the area, bringing achievements and significant damage to the capabilities of the Hamas terrorist organization.
"The brigade fought here almost a decade ago, we lost friends and fighters - today is our time," said Golani Brigade Sergeant Ohad, who served as a company commander in Battalion 13 in Operation Protective Edge.

The brigade's fighters exposed about 15 tunnel shafts, located a large quantity of weapons and eliminated terrorists from the beginning of the fighting in the Hamas stronghold. In recent days, the brigade's fighters encountered many terrorists who fired at the force from a school in the neighborhood. The terrorists booby-trapped the school compound and tried to lure the fighters into an ambush. A battle took place in the area, during which the terrorist squads that tried to attack the force were eliminated.
Today, the Golani Brigade absorbs into its ranks the recruits of the class of November 2023 who will soon join the ranks of the brigade's fighters.
