Prince William and Kate Middleton are usually walking examples of perfect royal conduct – unlike the younger brother in the family, who is known as a tireless Travelmaker. But as we know, even failed champions sometimes, and that's exactly what happened recently to the couple. The Royal Variety, an annual show featuring a variety of artists held in London to support the Royal Charity, was hosted by Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel. Of course, they were supposed to be welcomed as guests of honor by William and Kate, but according to what appears to be a viral video posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter), they didn't do a very good job.
In the video, William and Kate are elegant and impressive, as usual at festive evening events, chatting at length in the luxurious lounge of the Royal Albert Royal Hall with two distinguished guests, while turning their backs on the Swedish royal couple. Poor Victoria didn't even know what to do, let alone her husband. In addition, when the conversation between William and Kate and the guests ended, even then they did not notice the Swedes, and simply climbed the stairs to their seats to read the performance.
That's how you host foreign royals in your country: by standing aside, with backs turned, completely ignoring their presence. And, of course, make sure you speak and go first, because you are more important.

It's hard not to get the impression of outrageous impoliteness and discomfort from watching a video documenting William and Kate's alleged disregard for the presence of the Princess and Prince of Sweden, who stood behind them throughout the conversation with the two older ladies. The video, which went viral, received 1,400 likes and 337,5 views. "This is how you host foreign royalty in your own country: by standing on the sidelines, turning your back (on them), completely ignoring their presence. And of course, be sure to talk and go first, because you are more important," the tweet read. Many X users echoed this sentiment, expressing sympathy for Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.
The incident sparked a broader debate about the expectations of representative and royal officials, and the implications of their actions on diplomatic relations. For William and Kate, things will need to be looked into to avoid such an incident in the future, and perhaps even a public apology is needed.
