Austin arrived on his previous visit only a week after the outbreak of fighting in Gaza and the south. Austin held a tripartite meeting at the Kirya with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant. In a joint statement by Gallant and Austin, the latter said that "Israel will receive additional ammunition and aircraft today."
