Controversy in the coalition and opposition over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comparison between those murdered on October 7 and those murdered following the Oslo Accords. On Monday, during a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Netanyahu said that the number of victims from the October 7 attacks was the same as the victims of the Oslo Accords.
Likud MK Danny Danon said this morning in an interview with Kan Reshet Bet: "There is no comparison in the midst of a war, at the moment we have to focus on victory." He added that "the events of Black Saturday happened within a few hours – a number of dead and wounded that Israel has not known since its establishment." Opposition leader Yair Lapid responded to Netanyahu's remarks: "This is an evil political campaign whose sole purpose is to remove responsibility, blame others and create hatred."
Netanyahu made the remarks last night in response to MK Merav Michaeli, who claimed that he was promoting a campaign against the Palestinian Authority.
