Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, posted a poster Tuesday night with the phone number of Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
"If you want a ceasefire, call him," Erdan wrote on the sign displayed at the General Assembly debate on the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a discussion directed against Israel.
"If you want a real ceasefire, call Hamas and ask for Yahya Sinwar. Tell Hamas to lay down their arms, turn themselves in and return the hostages. And then you will get a real ceasefire that will last forever," the ambassador said.
