Serving the needs of our advertising partners and readers in the best possible way
Weekends are reading time – what is often neglected during the week can be made up for on Saturdays or Sundays. That's why we're repositioning ourselves to meet the needs of our readers and our advertising partners – with a strong weekend edition, with comprehensive coverage from the fields of politics, sports and culture. "Home is our strength" – this is our motto, also in the future. In order to be able to continue to bring a strong and contemporary product to the market, we have decided to discontinue our Wednesday edition at the end of the year.
On the one hand, we want to take into account the changing habits of our readers, and on the other hand, economic reasons have also influenced this decision. The war in Ukraine, rising commodity prices and the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic are leading to general price increases. And finally, we also want to make our ecological contribution.
Although a large proportion of our newspapers are already made from waste paper, we are still making a further contribution by discontinuing the Wednesday edition – a rarity for free weekly newspapers nationwide anyway. We are joining forces for a double portion of news home on Saturday. With the best of the two editions per week so far – competent local reporting, paired with cultural and leisure tips, raffles and the offers and services of local trade, crafts and small and medium-sized businesses. And all this will continue to be delivered free of charge and free of charge for you in the future. sc/sh
