Another violent crime in the Stuttgart area, even if this time it has nothing to do with rival gangs: The police find a dead man on a balcony - what happened?
Stuttgart - An alleged murder in Stuttgart's Rot district is keeping investigators busy. A 45-year-old man was found dead on his balcony on Wednesday evening. Residents had previously reported to the police that a shot had been fired, as dpa learned on Thursday from security circles. A little later, special forces stormed an apartment on Thursday night and arrested the alleged perpetrator - a 42-year-old man. He is suspected of having shot the 45-year-old, the police said early in the morning.
What is behind the crime is still completely unclear. According to their own statements, the investigators currently do not assume that the death of the man has anything to do with the feud between two rival groups in the Stuttgart area, which has been raging for months. For many months, there have been repeated acts of violence, and people have been repeatedly shot at. So far, according to the State Office of Criminal Investigation, dozens of men have been arrested in this context.
According to security circles, the alleged murder in the Rot district is rather a neighborhood dispute. The suspect's apartment is not far from the victim's apartment, security sources said. The press office of the Stuttgart police initially did not want to confirm this information for investigative reasons. A spokeswoman said in the afternoon that the suspect would probably be brought before the magistrate. He is a Greek national.
The police had searched for the alleged perpetrator on Wednesday evening with extensive search measures. A police helicopter was also deployed. According to police, the suspect was finally arrested without resistance. A weapon was found in the apartment, but it is not yet possible to say whether it was the murder weapon, the spokeswoman said on Thursday. The Criminal Investigation Department has set up the "Red" investigation group.
According to the police, a danger to the population could not be completely ruled out during the search operation. Residents have therefore been asked to stay at home and avoid the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen area. Dpa
