Elon Musk has begun recruiting principals and teachers for a school and university that is supposed to offer science education without the notions against their takeover of the old universities that he constantly complains about X

Elon Musk, the South African entrepreneur, is already behind quite a few projects. The number of companies he founded and managed is already approaching double digits (the business index Zip2, the payments venture x.com, the social network X, the artificial intelligence company xAI, the artificial intelligence company OpenAI, the space company SpaceX, the electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, The Boring Company, the brain chip company Neuralink). But now he's investing his money in a completely different kind of project: building a new university. Perplexity summarized the details for us:

According to tax filings filed by Musk and revealed by Bloomberg, the university will be funded by a $100 million investment from Musk's charity, The Foundation. The institution is designed to begin as an elementary and secondary school focused on technical subjects (STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Once the school is fully operational, the plan is to expand and create a university dedicated to education at the highest levels. The university will offer a traditional curriculum alongside hands-on learning experiences, including simulations, case studies, manufacturing/design projects, and laboratories. The institution will seek accreditation from the Collegiate Commission of the Southern Commission on Colleges and Schools.

This isn't Musk's first time working in education: About a decade ago, he founded Ad Astra, a school for his children and the children of SpaceX employees. It seems that he simply wants to expand the institution he founded now in order to avoid sending his children to the existing educational institutions in the area.

The new institution will be built in Austin, Texas, where the University of Texas, which has existed for over 100 years, and only two years ago was founded at the University of Austin, an alternative to the big colleges that has raised $200 million in donations and promises to open its doors next fall with an initial class of 100 students, who will enjoy studies that encourage freedom of thought and debate, unlike the "woke" universities whose shameful conduct we saw in the House of Representatives last weekend. Musk's new school is expected to start with just 50 students and is in the process of recruiting principals and teachers.
