As the war progressed, the dollar fell and is now at a more than four-month low. The dollar exchange rate is currently trading at 3.65 agorot, a decline of 43 agorot from its peak recorded in mid-October.
This means savings that can reach hundreds and sometimes even thousands of shekels on vacation abroad. For every $1,000 we buy, we'll pay 430 shekels less than the peak at the beginning of the war. For example, a family that goes on a vacation at a cost of $5,000 will save more than NIS 2,000 compared to the peak recorded in mid-October.
The euro remained low compared to the first days of the war, and its representative exchange rate today stands at NIS 3.99, 33 agorot less than it was on October 23. Here, too, this is a savings of NIS 330 on each purchase of €1,000 compared to the peak days during the war.
The shekel is also strengthening against the pound, which weakened by 30 agorot compared with its peak, the Czech coronavirus, the Emirati dirham and other foreign currencies.
