"Eliya is a little boy." A few hours before learning of his little brother's death, Daniel Toledano was still talking about the 28-year-old French-Israeli man in these terms. The eldest of five siblings, he had been fighting like a lion for 69 days to remind people that "every second counts" to bring back all the hostages. In the early evening of Thursday, December 14, he received the call from his family that he had been dreading so much.

Eliya Toledano's body was found in Gaza by the Israeli army and formally identified, the IDF officially announced in a statement on Friday morning. He was kidnapped on 7 October at the "Tribe of Nova" festival in Re'im, a few kilometres from the Gaza Strip.
