After Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich ordered the cancellation of the exemption on sweet drinks to be extended, contrary to the position of the professional echelon in the Ministry of Finance, it became known today (Friday) that he has decided to renew the tax on sweet drinks.
The tax will apply only to beverages that contain sugar and whose tax is NIS 1.07 per liter of drink. However, diet drinks, reduced-sugar drinks and natural juices, for which the tax was lower at 76 agorot per liter, will be exempt from tax.
