The annual revision in water and sewage tariffs will be frozen, so that only an index update will be carried out, the Water Authority announced on Friday.
The decision means that from January 1, 2024, the water tariff for household consumers will increase by 0.73%, following an increase in the consumer price index. The Water Authority is obligated to update the water tariff twice a year in accordance with the price index and production costs.
It should be noted that this is an insignificant increase in prices. According to the Water Authority, this amounts to an average of NIS 2.1-5 per bill per month.

Last October, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.5 percent, thus completing an increase of 3.7 percent in a year. This represents a slight moderation in the annual inflation rate, compared with 3.8 percent, a figure recorded in September.
According to Central Bureau of Statistics data from October, for the first time in a long period there was a decline in the level of home prices in the past year. An annual comparison of the prices of transactions carried out in August–September 2023 with the prices of transactions carried out in July–August 2022 showed that the annual home price index declined by 0.2 percent.
