Lufthansa Aviation Group announced on Friday that it would resume some flights to and from Israel from January 8.

Lufthansa, one of the world's largest aviation groups, stopped flying to Tel Aviv at the start of the Iron Sword War and will now resume some routes. From next month, the airline will operate four weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Frankfurt and three weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Munich.

Austrian Airlines, a member of the group, will operate eight flights from Israel to Vienna and Swiss will operate five weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Zurich.

The Group's airlines will offer 20 weekly flights to and from Tel Aviv. This is about 30% of the group's normal flight volume in the days before the outbreak of the war. All flights by Lufthansa and its subsidiaries will be carried out on Airbus A320 aircraft.

Yesterday, British airline Virgin Atlantic announced that all its flights to and from Israel are cancelled until at least March 17, 2024. The airline, which operated two daily flights on the London-Tel Aviv route until the beginning of the war, is examining the situation in Israel and will return if the security situation in Israel improves.

Virgin Atlantic operated two daily flights between London and Tel Aviv until the beginning of the war. Currently, EL AL is the only airline operating flights on this route, and many of its flights take off at very high occupancy due to the high demand for the destination.

The demand for flights to London is relatively high because of the businessmen who fly between England and Israel and back, the Israelis who live in the UK and come to Israel, and many Israelis who choose to take short ventilation vacations in London.
