Ron Sherman was 19 years old and a soldier in the Israeli army. His body was found in the last few hours in Gaza.

Ron Sherman, the Argentine-Israeli soldier and nephew of singer Leon Gieco, was found dead in Gaza, after being missing since October 7, when the Hamas terrorist group launched an attack on the border with Israel, official sources confirmed.

Ron, 19, had been serving in Israel's army for a year and was kidnapped along with hundreds of others during the ferocious Hamas attack.

"During an operation in Gaza, the bodies of hostages Nik Beizer and Ron Sherman were recovered by IDF soldiers and transferred back to Israel," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on its social networks, according to the Sputnik news agency.

Alejandro Sherman, brother-in-law of the musician and father of the Argentine soldier, had told Telenoche and told the drama that his family lived after his disappearance.

Alejandro, the young man's father, spoke with Dominique Metzger and Luis Otero and told details of the last conversation he had with his son, minutes before he was kidnapped and how he found out that he was still alive.

"The only thing I know is what is shown in a video that Hamas has released on social media, in which my son is clearly visible," the soldier's father said.

In that interview, Ron's father had said that he had been in contact with his son since the attack on Israel began: "We knew exactly everything that was happening until he was kidnapped, it was quite dramatic. At one point he told us that there were Hamas fighters at the base, we couldn't believe it, but in the end he had to say, 'I can't talk anymore' and disconnected the phone."

Alejandro Sherman, Ron's father, spoke with Telenoche.

"The words that stuck with me were, 'You're by the door, it's all over, I love you so much, wow,'" she said.

He said: "That was at 7:12 a.m. about 40 minutes after the attack started. My wife and I were petrified because we thought we didn't have any more children. And so the first few hours went by that we didn't know what to do..."

After acknowledging that she feels a "terrible helplessness" for having her teenage son in that situation, she revealed how she found out that Ron was still alive: "A family member of ours saw this video on social media and we recognized him. Ironically, the news that my son is alive was given to me by Hamas itself," he had said at the time.

"Ron is in the hands of a terrorist group. From that moment on we are in the air, without sleeping, without eating, doing our best. Talking to anyone who wants to talk to me. Telling the world that this can't go on like this, let them give my son back," she concluded.

Leon Gieco had called for the release of his nephew kidnapped in Israel

Hours after the attack, León Gieco had said that one of his nephews was kidnapped.

The renowned musician and composer asked at that time for the freedom of "all hostages" and warned: "As a musician who has always been committed to peace and today overwhelmed by the extreme situation in the Middle East, by the blindness and harshness of politicians and by these acts of terror where the victims are always the people, Both Palestinians and Israelis, I call for a peaceful solution to this age-old and cruel conflict."

The musician called for an end to the conflict and told of the situation his family is going through in Israel.

Gieco then pleaded for "the return of all hostages to their hometowns," including his nephew, Private Ron Sherman.

Regarding the particular case of his nephew, who was kidnapped in Israel a week ago, Gieco called for the release of the young man "for the love that unites us as a family and for the universal love that must never die."
