"You are something and you can do something – you show that with your badges." Thomas Fisch, Deputy Mayor of Bockhorn, praised and motivated the Grünbach firefighters with his words, who had met in the Bräustüberl for the annual balance sheet and appointments.

Grünbach – At the meeting, Commander Nicolas Stenglein recalled the various missions over the year, and the new district fire chief Marcell Garcia also introduced himself. "You have acquired experience and competence, you have completed trainings, you have invested a lot of time in the service of society. You deserve praise for that," Fisch said, highlighting the achievements of the local fire department. This help and a functioning fire brigade are indispensable.

It is true that the municipalities, including Bockhorn, would no longer receive so many subsidies from the state. However, the planned new fire station on the B388 (we reported) and a new vehicle are noted in the municipality's budget for 2024, "because we think what you are doing is good".

Marcell Garcia, who has been in his new role as district fire chief and second commander in Bockhorn since September, also praised the commitment of his colleagues, some of whom are still very young. But he also agreed with Grünbach's commander Nicolas Stenglein, who would like to see even more young people in the local army.

In his review of the year, Stenglein mentioned a total of 69 missions: five fires, 19 technical assistance, 42 first responder alarms and an appointment for fire safety education.
