A new road drama in the Val-d'Oise. On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, a 21-year-old was killed in a car accident while driving in the town of Argenteuil. The violent collision took place on Boulevard Karl Marx, not far from the banks of the Seine and the D311. While driving an Audi A1, he apparently lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle struck a tree, then a guardrail and a parked pickup truck before ending up in a garage. The emergency services quickly arrived on the scene but were unable to do anything. Despite the care provided, the young man was pronounced dead on the spot by the doctor of the Smur (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Structure).
The passenger had to be extricated
The sole passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was also seriously injured. Trapped in the passenger compartment, she had to be extricated by firefighters before she could be transported to the Salpêtrière hospital in Paris (<>th arrondissement). It took more than two hours to intervene. An investigation has been opened at the Argenteuil police station.
A sad episode that comes less than two days after a fatal accident on the A1 involving three heavy trucks, still in the department, at Roissy-en-France. While two drivers were only slightly injured, the third, trapped in his cab, died. Closed for the duration of the long intervention, the motorway was only able to reopen on Wednesday morning due to the damage to the road.
